I also picked up one of these and realised that the the one Im quite sure Jeff is referring to is not an actual beer style but more a catagory of styles which demonstrates the lack of knowlage from whoever wrote the crossword. Thats a good clue.
It's the only one of the suggested styles that isn't top fermented perhaps? It is after all a beer style competition. You are right about the T Shirts though.

Is it? I don't know, I'll be filling it in later then posting the result. Don't give me any clues. Did you print it out?
Is it IPA? India Pale Ale - full of all those evil hops. We should all be drinking mild in this country, not things with hops in it.
