Is the North of England Devoid of Good Pubs?

I found this map "Good Pub Guide National Awards 2009" rather alarming.

It's telling us England's most northerly good pub is in Peterborough. Wales and Scotland have one good pub each. Northern Ireland has no good pubs.

I feel like punching it.

And the good Scottish pub isn't even on the mainland!

Yes it is. I live oop north and can categorically state every single pub is a dump.

Now Cookie, you know that's not true - after all you use a few yourself, don't you now?

Just 'cos I may step into one on occasion, John, just to moan about the prices, doesn't mean I don't kid myself I am not sat in a dump.

Now Cookie, you can't fool us - you know as well as I do that you use and even enjoy pubs. By the way if you really did believe that "every single pub" in the North was a dump (which of course you don't) that would include the Woolpack of "Woolpack Dave". Wonder hwta he would have to say about that?
