I've been trying to work out how to respond to this one - check out Roger Protz blog on Skull Splitter I think The Portman Group are a much bigger problem than childish names. Real ale names are fun, sometimes silly, but it's the small brewers who tend to be the ones that use the silliest. Let us have our fun, we don't make millions out of it and most drinkers understand. There are plenty of good ales out there that don't have silly names, so I don't really agree that it's the names that put people off drinking ale. What fun would there be if they where all called bitter, stout, porter or even better, mild?? Sorry, I guess there had to be something an opinionated brewer like me would disagree with you on!
