Wot, No Portman Group?

I'm going to Cairo for a week in April.

I've being doing some research into Egyptian beer and I've found one that sounds right up my street.

Keep out of the souks!

Is that just basically romanticising the fact that it'll make you drunk and telling you how you'll feel after you've downed a few bottles in the hot sun?! Sounds good though!

Had it: tramps' brew.

Stella Export is the way to go, though Wikipedia suggests it may no longer exist.

Stay in the souk!

Sakara gold is the domestic choice, for high alcohol try the local "whiskey"

I love Egyptian spirits. Not to drink, obviously -- they're awful -- but the labels: Johnny Wadi, Gordoon's Gin. Classics all.

Egyptian wine is pretty special too. And they're very proud of it.
